Picture by Yvonne WoodsOne of PILA's objectives is to develop pro bono initiatives to match legal expertise with the legal needs of organisations with which PILA is working. Through its pro bono register, PILA will involve practitioners in public interest law e.g. community legal education; working on a law reform submission; legal advice to an NGO; litigation.
We would be delighted to hear from practitioners in all areas of work and in particular those with expertise in any of the following areas: charities, corporate governance, employment, equality, family, housing, human rights, immigration and asylum, landlord and tenant, public law, social welfare.
If you are interested in this exciting opportunity to use your legal skills in a new context, please e-mail PILA's Legal Officer Jo Kenny at jo.kenny@flac.ie.
FLAC Law Centres
FLAC operates a network of part-time Legal Advice Centres throughout Ireland in conjunction with the Citizens Information Board. These advice centres are open in the evening and the service is provided by volunteer solicitors and barristers. See the attached link for further information on how to get involved!

Voluntary Assistance Scheme
The Bar Council operates the Voluntary Assistance Scheme, by which barristers provide services directly to non-government organisations working with members of the community who cannot afford legal services. The VAS considers enquiries from NGOs and charitable organisations and does not take on individual cases.
