Africa Diaspora for Trade, Enterprise and Development (ADTED) is seeking Business Development Intern for a nine month period.
Are you interested in trade, aid and helping Ireland and Africa's economy?
ADTED is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic intern to support our mission to promote trade and enterprise, increase employment, and strengthen leadership across Africa. We aim to do this by enhancing Irish-African economic alliances through the utilisation of connections between Africans in Ireland and Africans in Africa. In the long-term, our work will encompass training programmes, market research, and advisory services.
Working with ADTED represents an invaluable opportunity to gain significant communications, media and research skills as ADTED will support you to find paid work in the sector on completion of the Internship. well as to help build and develop a promising new organisation. Fulltime/Part Time: Fulltime. However if this is not suitable, the days and hours of work can be negotiated.
Duration: 9 months
Renumeration: €200 a month. The intern would also have the opportunity to visit an African country (to be decided at a later date). This trip would include free flights and accommodation.
Location: Dublin 1
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and update content for print publications, our website and social media
- Assist in the organisation and promotion of events, meetings and programs
- Research and develop fundraising opportunities. This will involve regularly liaising with potential supporters, writing detailed grant applications, and creating a long-term fundraising strategy.
- Publicise ADTED in the media and develop its network of supporters
- Develop new business ventures and find new markets for high end Irish goods and services
- Develop marketing and sales strategies to introduce ADTED and start up its activities across Ireland and Africa
- Research a range of business and development issues related to Africa and Ireland
- Represent ADTED at high-level meetings and forums
- Assist in the planning and development of a new NGO
Qualifications Needed
- Third level degree, preferably in a related area such as business, media, or international development
- Excellent written and presentation communication skills
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team
- An interest in business, Africa and ADTED's goal.

- To ensure you gain as much as possible from the internship, we will agree upon a plan to meet your learning goals. The success of this plan will be regularly evaluated and adjusted if necessary.
- The internship will allow you to gain practical skills and experience in communications, fundraising and business development.
- We will contribute a small daily allowance towards the cost of your transport and lunch.
- We will support you to find paid work in the sector on completion of the Internship.
