The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) is an independent human rights watchdog which monitors and campaigns to ensure access to human rights is protected in Ireland. The ICCL Human Rights Film Awards are the only human rights film competition and is entering its 7th year. Topics from previous years include poverty, marriage equality, racism, conflict, disability, children’s rights and the rights of older people. A jury comprised of film-makers, screenwriters, actors and human rights experts judge the winners.
This project has been made possible through donations from members, friends and supporters. This year the ICCL are hoping to raise funds to pay for the costs such as technical production, equipment and venue hire. The ICCL are asking people to pledge support via their Fundit campaign, which closes in four days on 7 June.
