The Law Commission is a statutory independent body. They aim to ensure that the law is as fair, modern, simple and as cost-effective as possible. To conduct research and consultations in order to make systematic recommendations for consideration by Parliament. To codify the law, eliminate anomalies, repeal obsolete and unnecessary enactments and reduce the number of separate statutes.
The Law Commission UK are currently looking to recruit up to 18 research assistants to work at the Law Commission for a period of one year starting on 5 September 2016. The research assistant role involves a mix of legal and comparative research, policy analysis and administrative work. They will be expected to look into the present law, identify problems with it and suggest possible options for reform.
