Demetra Herdes joins PILA in the position of Legal Officer. Demetra is a UCD BCL graduate with a strong interest in public interest, human rights, environmental and technology law. She first joined PILA as an intern in January 2022 through a clinical placement module, and has contributed to the work of the organisation by assisting in the placement of pro bono referrals, contributing to the PILA Bulletin and helping organise legal education and training sessions. She has previously completed internships in the Climate Bar Association, in Dublin criminal and commercial law firms, and has worked as a Romanian - English court interpreter.
