Dignity4Patients is seeking a volunteer trustee/director with legal experience to support our charity in its operations and development.

The Organisation:
Dignity4Patients is a patient support and advocacy organisation. We work with people who have suffered sexual abuse or inappropriate sexual behaviour whilst a patient in a medical or therapeutic setting.


The Role:
Dignity4Patients are seeking an enthusiastic trustee for their board with legal experience in criminal and civil law and possible knowledge of human rights law, on Commissions of Investigations and so-called historical sexual abuse. We are also interested in academic board members for this role too. If you wish to
play a key role in advising and advancing services of Dignity4Patients for the benefit of victim-survivors, we are keen to hear from you.


Responsibilities will include the following:
*Providing input to the strategic direction of Dignity4Patients services and contributing with legal expertise and oversight of our client services to assist our advocacy department.
*Assist with our client services policy formation and implementation
*Provide advice and direction on best practise in the area of law for the best interests of both the organisation and our clients


Essential Skills/Qualities required for these roles:
• A deep appreciation of the Not-For-Profit sector and its workings
• At least 3 years’ experience operating at a senior level
• An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
• Commitment to highest levels of charity governance
• Previous Board of Management desirable but not essential


Commitments:
There will be approx. 8 board meetings a year held at our offices in Drogheda, Co. Louth or via Zoom. Board members are expected to commit 4 hours each month to board work for research, development, correspondence and meeting attendance etc.


Candidates Location:
To facilitate occasional face to face board, committee and funder meetings candidates should ideally be located in Dublin, Meath, Louth areas or be willing to travel to Drogheda.
