Kenya: new Constitution and court case herald developments in public interest litigation

PILA is delighted to welcome a contribution by Siobhán McCarthy, an Irish solicitor working with the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya. FIDA Kenya celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

The new Kenyan Constitution sets out rules of standing, including provision that a person acting in the public interest may institute court proceedings. Please click here to read Siobhán's article "Recent developments in public interest litigation in Kenya". Please click here to find the judgments referred to.

To contrast with the Irish position, please click here for materials from PILA's recent public interest litigation seminar and click here to see FAQs and case summaries on standing in Ireland.
