Equal Rights Trust (ERT) seeks Director of Programmes deadline 29 December 2010

The position would include reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Programmes and responsibility for developing effective research, advocacy and communications strategies for maximum impact of the Trust's programmes. S/he will participate in setting up programmatic priorities and will oversee innovative research on equality and human rights issues, the publication of reports and other materials, and advocacy to generate pressure at national and international levels to promote equality and combat discrimination. S/he will initially supervise five professional staff, and will support the Executive Director in designing and implementing development strategies. The Director of Programmes will also participate in fundraising, identifying funding opportunities, and drafting funding proposals.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, creative, strategic thinker with substantial expertise and proven senior-level experience working on equality law and human rights issues. An advanced degree in law, international relations, public policy, or a related field is desired. The prospective Director of Programmes must have excellent writing and editing skills in English, proven by an impressive record of publications in the area of equality rights, either authored by the candidate or produced under their editorial responsibility.
