Amnesty seeks Children and Youth Policy Officer (Mental Health), closing date 1 July 2011

Applications are invited for a Children and Youth Policy Officer (Mental Health) for Amnesty International Ireland's (AI) mental health campaign. The role is offered on a full time basis for a one year contract and the post holder will be responsible for providing policy expertise on children and mental health within the agreed timeframe.

The Children and Youth Policy Officer will have expertise in children and youth mental health policy. S/he will have primary responsibility for coordinating policy, research and economic analysis on children and youth mental health. S/he will coordinate the work of the Children's Mental Health Coalition, of which AI is a founding member.

Main responsibilities include:

o Provide mental health policy expertise on children and young people.
o Gather information and data that will provide effective campaigning solutions and that can be shared with other stakeholders.
o Coordinate an external research consultancy project on the economic analysis of children and adolescent mental health.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have:

o Relevant third level qualification in social policy or other discipline related to mental health with a relevant postgraduate degree or human rights qualification an advantage
o Demonstrated experience of research and information-gathering in an area related to children and youth mental health policy, with particular emphasis on participatory research methodologies
The starting salary for this full-time position of 35 hours per week is between €42,000 to €44,000 per annum, depending upon experience. This is a fixed-term position. The closing date for applications is 1 July 2011. Click here to view more information on this position.
