Head of Legal Support Project

The Law Centre is seeking the right person to lead our new Legal Support Project. Funded by Atlantic Philanthropies, this new project will deliver pro bono legal work in employment and social security. Applicants must be a solicitor or barrister (or equivalent in another jurisdiction) with at least one year's post qualifying experience. This role is 35 horus per week and based in Belfast. It is essential that applicants have two years' experience of social security or employment law advice and representation. Experience of staff and financial management and working with volunteers is desirable.

Salary: £38,961 - £39,855

Development Officer, Mental Health and Learning Disability Alliance

The Law Centre co-ordinates the Mental Health & Learning Disability Alliance to ensure an effective voice in the development of progressive mental capacity legislation. We are now seeking the right person to work with the Alliance on law reform over the next two years. This is a temporary two-year post, for 21 hours a week based in Belfast. A minimum of two years' experience of policy and public affairs work including lobbying and campaigning is required. Experience of writing policy papers, working with the media, knowledge of social justice issues and the workings of the Northern Ireland Assembly or other parliamentary body are essential. Knowledge of law and policy relating to mental health and/or learning disability is desirable.

Salary: £28,749 - £30,011
