European Roma Information Office (ERIO) seeks Project Coordinator Belgium, deadline 10 October 2011

The European Roma Information Office (ERIO) is a Belgian advocacy organisation that promotes political and public discussion on Roma issues by providing factual and in-depth information on a range of policy issues to European institutions, Roma civil organisations and governmental authorities. ERIO aims to combat racist discrimination against Roma and to contribute to an improved public awareness of the problems faced by Roma communities. ERIO is one of the collaborators of the first Roma and Travellers Council in Belgium which will guarantee the participation of Roma and Travellers in Belgian policy and give them the opportunity to act as equal citizens.

The role will involve:

  • Assisting the Project Manager, where applicable, in the day to day duties of a project's administration
  • Assisting the project team
  • Documenting and maintaining current project development reports, meeting minutes, schedules, budgets and other pertinent records
  • Synchronizing all the operations involved in the successful completion of a particular project
  • Ensuring that project development is timely successful and meets expectations
  • Convene and direct project team to effectively address project requirements according to objectives, schedule and budget
  • Coordinating project meetings, venue, agendas, including travel arrangements
  • Developing and maintaining a detailed project schedule which includes administrative tasks and all sites involved in the project
  • Attend project coordination and team meetings as requested or required.
  • Coordinating activities and resources in support of a project
  • Recommending alternative courses of action and implement changes when necessary
  • Filing all project documents (hard and soft copies)
  • Perform other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Experience of project management, project coordination or related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal Dutch, French and English language skills
  • Very good communication skills
  • Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Effective time management, ability to work well under tight deadlines
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and a keenness to learn
  • Strong IT skills (ability to use computer-based tools including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Great multitasker and able to operate in a flexible manner
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Knowledge about Roma issues and experience of working with disadvantaged and minority groups, and with Roma communities
  • Knowledge of Belgian system and context

Desired:

  • Knowledge of Romani language
  • Knowledge of EU Roma related policies

Salary will be paid according to experience.
