DLA Piper seeks pro bono Lawyer, London deadline 8 December 2011

During the past 12 months DLA Piper lawyers have undertaken 168,000 hours of pro bono legal work globally. This equates to approximately 38 hours of pro bono legal work per lawyer. Over the next 3 years we intend to substantially increase the size of our pro bono practice, to ensure we remain a market leader in this area.

DLA Piper are currently seeking a lawyer with relevant qualified experience to join their pro bono team in London.

The successful candidate will:
-work closely with our London-based Pro Bono Lawyer, reporting to the Pro Bono Partner, to contribute to the management and growth of our domestic pro bono practice in the UK, which covers 8 offices and 1300 fee earners
-carry a pro bono caseload
-collaborate with the firm's corporate responsibility team to ensure alignment between pro bono and other CR initiatives
-be part of a substantial global team of more than 15 full-time pro bono lawyers employed by DLA Piper
Essential
Relevant qualified experience working in a pro bono practice in a commercial law firm
Desirable
-strong contacts and/or networks in the UK non-profit sector, community law centres, NGO's
-expertise in human rights law
-post graduate studies in an area relevant to pro bono practice eg law, social justice, human rights, poverty etc.
