Caseworker Internship, Irish Refugee Council – Deadline 18 January

Description

The intern will gain practical experience in providing information and support to asylum seekers and refugees. The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following: Refugee status in international and domestic law, the Irish asylum process, Family reunification, human rights and the Direct Provision system, completing and managing case files. On completion the intern will have attained skills in representation, information provision, working with different stakeholders, outreach, presentation work and networking.

Skills Requirements

The person should be committed to human rights and in particular the rights of asylum seekers and refugees. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and good computer skills. The person should have an interest in working with people who are outside their country of origin, and in particular, those suffering from trauma or related symptoms as a result of their experience abroad or in Ireland.

Please Note:

This is an Internship. An allowance of €50 per week will be paid in addition to your current Social Welfare payment. See eligibility criteria on the Job Bridge website.

Education Requirements: Third Level – The ideal candidate will have a third level qualification in political science, social science, law or related subject.
