Legal Intern, Doras Luimní, Dublin – Deadline 14 February

Doras Luimní is an independent non-governmental organisation which works to support and promote the rights of all migrants living in Limerick. They provide a range of services, some of which are designed to meet the specific needs of the migrant community and others which are available to the wider Limerick community. Their main areas of work are the provision of direct support, advocacy and campaigning and integration planning.

Applications are invited for the position of Legal Intern. Doras Legal Intern will work in close collaboration with the Doras Legal Officer, providing personal support and advocacy to Doras clients. The successful candidate will assist in the provision of one-to-one legal advice and information on a range of immigration related issues. This role will also advocate on behalf of clients to Government Agencies and other organisations while maintaining an individual caseload and ensure detailed records of all clinic work.

The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • Possess a relevant third-level qualification in law, international relations, human rights, social sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience

Candidates should possess the following experience/knowledge:

  • Previous experience working in similar position is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with immigrant communities is highly desired.
  • A sound knowledge of the issues facing migrants in Ireland.
  • A commitment to human rights based approaches.
  • Experience with research methodology and citation standards
  • Experience of report writing and policy formation.
  • Experience in advocating for rights and equality.
