Transparency International, Legal Counsellor/Solicitor- deadline 16 October

Transparency International Ireland is seeking a fully qualified solicitor to serve as its Legal Counsellor (LC). The LC will lead and develop TI Ireland’s only non-profit help line service for whistleblowers and those reporting official or professional wrongdoing, called ‘Speak Up’.

The LC will be responsible for providing legal advice, and advocacy support to clients, ensuring compliance with Law Society regulations on the provision of legal advice; managing and expanding TI Ireland’s team of legal volunteers; preparing amicus curiae briefs where necessary; working with the media and preparing guidance for citizens, as well as narrative and statistical reports based on the work of the helpline.

The LC will also be expected to work with TI Ireland’s Chief Executive in the development of an independent law centre, as well as TI Ireland’s training and professional development services in addition to identifying and building relationships with prospective donors for Speak Up. 

The Legal Counsellor reports to the Chief Executive of Transparency International in Ireland and is offered for an initial term of 12 months, on a full-time basis (five days per week), 37.5 hours a week, with flexible working hours.  The role is based in the offices in The Capel Building in Dublin 7 and will involve foreign travel on an occasional basis.

The starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
