Amnesty International Ireland: Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Team Intern - deadline 11 November

Internship Details
Hours of work: 20 hours a week
Duration: minimum 3 months starting end November 2013
Reports to: ESCR programme coordinator
Remuneration: Local public transport reimbursement and daily lunch allowance

The ESCR Intern will work closely with the ESC Rights team on promoting and advancing ESC rights and their protection in Ireland. This will include assisting in the delivery of campaign activities, including awareness raising, political lobbying and public events, based on the needs of the team and the experience, competencies, and interests of the intern.  

The intern will be required to:

  • monitor the operation of the Constitutional Convention, including keeping updated with website and media content, maintaining information on submissions and monitoring civil society engagement with the Convention;
  • monitor print and broadcast media, websites, and the Oireachtas for coverage of economic, social and cultural rights;
  • prepare materials for organisations and individuals who may be interested in campaigning on ESC rights;
  • assist in the preparation and running of events;
  • assist in coordination of meetings with key partners including other non-governmental and governmental organisations, and individuals;
  • attend events on behalf of AI where required;
  • carry out database updates;
  • contribute to the delivery of programme objectives, individually and as part of the ESCR team.
