Irish Human Rights Commission – Solicitor (Contract) – deadline 16 April

Reporting to the Director of Enquiries & Legal Services or other designated officer and working in close collaboration with colleagues throughout IHREC, the Solicitor will contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation's work programme for the processing and assessment of complaints regarding human rights to the Commission, conduct of enquiries, provision of legal assistance, pursuit of legal proceedings, organisation of amicus curiae appearances and work on compliance functions, as required.

The Solicitor, under the guidance of the Director of Enquiries & Legal Services or other designated officer and working closely with team colleagues, will process and assess individual communications to the Commission, implement efficient and effective systems, procedures and protocols, in line with leading international practice, for a co-ordinated, targeted and time sensitive approach to the management of communications to the Commission and litigation.

The Solicitor will, with other IHREC solicitors, line manage a small paralegal team and may also be required to oversee research projects concerning legislative observations, policy analysis and international reporting by the IHRC/ IHREC.

They will provide advice and recommendations to the Commission on case selection and fully contribute to a small professional team and the continuing development of the organisation.
