Director, Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission – Dublin, deadline 17 July

Location: Dublin

The Director will report to the Chief Commissioner of the Irish Human Rights and Equality

Commission (IHREC) to ensure that the work of the IHREC is well managed and effective.

The Director will be accountable under the guidance of the Chief Commissioner for

  • Managing the day to day administration of the IHREC’s business;
  • Implementing the agreed policies of the IHREC;
  • Being accountable to the IHREC for the efficient and effective management of the Commission’s resources
  • Providing to the IHREC such information as the Commission may require

Candidates must hold

  • A professional qualification in management or equivalent professional management experience of at least 10 years and must:
  • Be an experienced senior manager with a track record of delivering change, in either the
  • public, private or not for profit sectors;
  • Be a skilled manager or people, with the ability and vision to build a strong and close-
  • knit senior management team;
  • Have substantial experience of managing complex budgets and of engaging with
  • thorough auditing processes;
  • Have proven ability to deliver upon agreed strategic plans and business plans;
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of the international and domestic human rights
  • and equality framework;
  • Have proven capacity to apply a human rights and equality based approach to the
  • organisational development of the IHREC’s work;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to engage
  • and work in partnership with staff at all levels and key partners in the public, private and
  • not-for –profit sectors etc.
