Cultural Rights as drivers for change in Communities – 26 May, Galway

Date: 26 May 2015

Time: 2pm-5pm

Venue: The View, Áras na Mac Léinn, NUI Galway

NUIG and Blue Drum are hosting a workshop exploring and advancing cultural rights as possible drivers for change in communities. Activist, artists and all members of the community will be invited to attend and contribute. The identification of collective rights and empowerment of children, families and communities in holding policy to account and having basic needs met can often be helped with cooperative practises at local level.

The workshop will examine what is meant by culture and the role of values in practise. The workshop will also introduce the Human Rights and Equality Act 2014 and the International Covenant on Social, Economic and Cultural Rights of which Ireland is being examined under this coming June.
