ICCL Deputy Director – Deadline 22 May, Dublin

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) is an independent human rights watchdog, which monitors, educates and campaigns in order to secure full enjoyment of human rights for everyone. Founded in 1976 by Mary Robinson and others, the ICCL has played an important role in some of Ireland’s most successful human rights campaigns including the decriminalisation of homosexuality and the establishment of a Garda ombudsman.

The Deputy Director will assist the Director in the leadership and management of the ICCL. They will represent the organisation at high level meetings and events and when requested speak to the media on issues falling within the ICCL’s mandate. The Deputy Director will directly manage the organisations research and policy work and in the director’s absence, manage the work of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a leader with an established track record in the area of promoting and protecting human rights and equality. They will have between 5 and 10 years of progressively more senior management experience and be able to demonstrate leadership ability. A qualification in human rights, international relations or a related discipline, along with a good working knowledge of international and domestic human rights and equality standards.
