The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was established by the United Nations General Assembly to mandate, lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of refugees.

The chosen candidate will work with UNHCR Ireland’s External Relations Unit on media relations, and monitoring about UNHCR’s work in Ireland and political developments relating to asylum and refugee related issues. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about UNHCR’s work and mandate at the international level, in the EU and in Ireland. The successful candidate will have experience in journalism, social media and web updating skills. Communications and writing skills are also required. This is a full-time position is for a six-month period. This internship is unpaid, however, a small allowance is payable towards travel expenses.
