Barnardos: Head of Development, Guardian Ad Litem Service – 30 June 2015

Barnardos is recruiting a full time Head of Development for its Guardian Ad Litem service on a two-year fixed term contract.

What does the Guardian Ad Litem service do?

A Guardian ad Litem is appointed for children in certain types of legal proceedings, usually care and related proceedings and their role is to represent the child’s wishes and feelings and their interests. They are appointed by the court and report to the court. Barnardos recruits and supports suitably qualified persons to undertake this role, most of whom work for us on a self employed freelance basis.

What will the Head of Development do?

The Head of Development will be undertaking two roles: they will be working closely with the Assistant Director and the Head of Service in the South of Ireland to help support the existing services and to work to develop the service further. They will also carry a small caseload of Guardian ad Litem work.

Where we work:

We work in all areas of the country from our two services bases in Dublin and Cork.

Who do we work with?

We work directly with children and their families, and with the Courts, with TUSLA social workers and managers, and with other professionals involved in the care of children.
