Coram Children’s Legal Centre: Legal and Policy Officer – 7 September 2015

Coram Children's Legal Centre is a national charity committed to promoting children's rights in the UK and worldwide. Coram Children’s Legal Centre aims to:  

  • Promote the implementation of children's rights;
  • Monitor and improve law, policy and practice concerning children and young people, and to inform and influence policy-makers and the general public;
  • Improve access to justice through legal advice, information and representation for children, young people and adults working on their behalf.

The MCP promotes the rights of migrant, asylum-seeking and refugee children and young people and works to ensure that they receive the protection and support they need. The MCP provides one-to-one legal advice through an advice line and outreach advice programme, a range of free resources and online information, and training to practitioners working with young refugees and migrants. It undertakes research and policy advocacy to protect and promote the rights of migrant children in UK legislation and policy.

The Legal and Policy Officer will ensure that the MCP continues to advocate for better protection of this group of children and young people in law and policy, assisting with all policy advocacy and research. They will also ensure that the Project is run effectively, with appropriate monitoring and evaluation, and lead on the successful delivery of the project’s training programme and legal advice and guidance.

This post is a full-time maternity cover, ideally starting October 2015
