OSCE Secretariat: Programme Officer – deadline 5 October

The Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) is currently seeking a Programme Officer to work under the Special Representative (SR) and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (SR/CTHB) in the Secretariat Unit based in Vienna.

The OSCE is the world’s largest security-orientated intergovernmental organisation that approaches security in a way that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. This involves the organisation dealing with an extensive range of security-related matters which include arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities.

The Office of the SR/CTHB assists OSCE participating States in the implementation of commitments and full usage of recommendations set forth in the OSCE Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings. The role of Programme Officer entails combatting human-trafficking by working with the SR/CTHB by:

·         Enhancing the awareness and understanding of human trafficking across the OSCE region;

·         Policy planning and advocacy especially in the area of emerging trends of human trafficking and effective approaches to combat it;

·         Direct assistance to participating States in practical and technical areas, at their request.
