Children’s Law Centre NI: Apprentice Solicitor – deadline 20 September 2016

The Children’s Law Centre (CLC) is a Northern Ireland charity founded on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to work towards having children’s rights respected and guaranteed without discrimination.

CLC is recruiting an apprentice solicitor from May 2017 – August 2019, with a salary provided by funding from the Legal Education Foundation. Candidates must be eligible to apply for September 2017 admission to the Solicitor’s Practice Course at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queen’s University, Belfast. The role is conditional upon the candidate subsequently being accepted onto the Solicitor’s Practice Course at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queen’s University, Belfast, for the period from September 2017 – August 2019.

The role will involve (under supervision) giving advice, representation, and negotiation on behalf of children, conducting legal research, assisting with drafting and presenting documentation etc. Candidates should have a law degree or otherwise be eligible for the Solicitor’s Practice course, should possess knowledge of human rights and social justice law, with particular focus on children’s rights and issues, as well as analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
