Threshold: CEO, Policy Officer, Legal Officer – deadline 2 September 2016

Threshold is the leading not-for-profit charitable organisation in Ireland providing support and advocacy services nationwide to people experiencing housing problems. Its mission is to campaign for housing as a right by providing independent advice and advocacy to vulnerable people, delivering housing and supports for the homeless or those at risk, influencing housing policy and practice through research, and working in collaboration with other organisations for those disadvantaged by the housing system. Threshold are looking for applications for three separate posts, CEO, Policy Officer and Legal Officer.

Chief Executive Officer

This role involves reporting to the Chairperson and the Board, and the CEO will have overall responsibility for the leadership of Threshold. This includes ensuring it has a clear strategy and appropriate structures and resources required to drive its delivery. The successful candidate will have leadership qualities, an understanding of housing and relevant experience in the not-for-profit sector in Ireland. He/she will further hold project management skills, strategic vision, financial acumen and general management capability.

Policy Officer

This role involves responsibility for providing evidence-based policy proposals and engaging in lobbying and campaigning to support Threshold objectives on reforming the housing system for the most vulnerable households. The duration of the contract is until June 2019, with the possibility of extension dependent on funding. The successful candidate will have strong communication and research skills, experience in analysing policy documents, experience in writing reports and briefing documents, and an ability to think strategically.

Legal Officer

This role involves supporting Threshold’s advocacy work on behalf of vulnerable households, to provide legal expertise and training the staff, and to take legal cases on behalf of clients. Duties involve drafting legislative proposals/amendments, contribute to the introduction of legislation that will help Threshold achieve its aims, and lobbying, research and communications activities. The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience in a legal, advocacy or regulatory role; a knowledge of housing law and policy, and a knowledge and interest in human rights.
