Mental Health Ireland: Chief Executive Officer – deadline 16 September 2016

Mental Health Ireland (MHI) is a national voluntary organisation leading a network of Mental Health Associations throughout Ireland, which aims to promote mental health and wellbeing to all individuals and communities. MHI is now seeking to recruit a CEO for a permanent contract subject to a 12-month probationary period.

The role of CEO will involve taking primary responsibility for managing Mental Health Ireland as a whole, for liaison with the Board, for liaison with external bodies including funding organisations, and for identifying development opportunities for MHI. The CEO will take responsibility for the fulfilment of Mental Health Ireland’s targets and objectives as set by the Board. The CEO will take lead responsibility for all strategic management matters, will direct policy development and strategic planning, and will be formally accountable to the Chairperson and Board.

The successful candidate should have significant experience at a senior level in multi-functional organisation, a relevant third level qualification, a knowledge of mental health policy and service provision. Desirable characteristics include leadership and management sills, interpersonal and networking skills, and the capacity to advocate effectively for the organisation’s policies and programmes.
