Carmichael Centre Public Lecture Series: Reimagining Irish Civic Society – starting 6 October, Dublin

Date: Starting 6 October 2016

Time: 7:00 – 9:00pm

Venue: Carmichael Centre, 4 North Brunswick Street, Dublin

Following on from its recent highly successful Public Lecture Series, the Carmichael Centre is delighted to announce its forthcoming series, which will be on the theme ‘Reimagining Irish Civic Society’.

The first lecture features Peter Mc Verry who has been working with vulnerable young people in Dublin for the last 40 years. During this time he has campaigned tirelessly for their rights. As a social activist Peter is a strong advocate for those who have no voice in society.  He has written widely on issues relating to young homeless people such as accommodation, drugs, juvenile justice, the Gardaí, prisons and education. Peter is a critic of government policy on issues such as homelessness, drugs and criminal justice. Peter’s ongoing work with and campaigning on behalf of troubled young people has made him one of the most prophetic voices in Ireland today.
