ClientEarth: Energy Transition and Environment Lawyer- deadline 24 November

ClientEarth is an organisation that works to protect the environment through advocacy, litigation and science. ClientEarth’s Strategic Litigation Programme – a vibrant and expanding team using litigation to accelerate Europe’s transition to a low carbon future is looking for someone to join the team. The lawyer will work in our EU Energy and Coal project focusing on the compliance and enforcement of existing environmental standards and regulations in the power sectors of a number of key EU jurisdictions, particularly in relation to coal.

The role involves researching and evaluating the potential for using legal interventions to enforce EU environmental laws such as the Industrial Emissions Directive. It also includes identifying opportunities and developing cases for targeted legal intervention, litigation, complaints to the European Commission and regulators.

Applicants should demonstrate track record in environmental law, ideally with experience in compliance and enforcement of environmental law. They must be ready to apply your skills and knowledge in developing and managing cases, working with partners and lawyers, and applying practical problem solving skills. Applicant must have outstanding thinking and communication skills and be comfortable in conveying complex ideas and working in a variety of settings.
