Irish Rule of Law International: Myanmar – Rule of Law Field visit – deadline 9 July 2017

IRLI is a joint initiative of the Law Society of Ireland and The Bar of Ireland as well as the Law Society of Northern Ireland and the Bar of Northern Ireland, dedicated to promoting the rule of law in developing countries.  IRLI seeks to harness the skills of Irish lawyers in using the law as a means of tackling global injustice and empowering all people to live in a society free from inequality, corruption and conflict.

Together with the Law Society of Ireland’s Diploma Centre, IRLI has been delivering a Training Project on Legal Advocacy Skills in Myanmar and Vietnam since 2013. The Project aims to strengthen social justice in a sustainable manner by supporting a culture that values access to justice for the poor and an ethical legal profession that is committed to challenging inequalities. The Project is directed at law lecturers and law students and aims to equip them with the skills and knowledge to mainstream legal ethics within the law curriculum as a means to increasing the commitment of future advocates to use the law to assist and empower marginalised groups.
