Simon Community: No One Left Behind; addressing the housing and homelessness crisis effectively – 2 October, Dublin

Date: Monday 2 October 2017

Time: 10:00-1:15

Venue: The Davenport Hotel, 8-10 Merrion Street Lower, Dublin 2

The Simon Communities in Ireland invite you to their seminar; 'No One Left Behind: Addressing the housing and homelessness crisis effectively'. The continuing housing and homelessness crisis has demonstrated the very damaging impact of austerity and the recession. The root causes of this crisis are income inadequacy, poverty and lack of affordable housing. The abject failure of safety nets that should prevent people from becoming homeless is clear. The Simon Communities are convening this seminar to examine how we can ensure that people can move on and leave homelessness behind them and how we can prevent those at risk from losing the homes they already have.

This is a Simon Week 2017 national event and will be chaired by broadcaster Matt Cooper.
Speakers will include:

  • Professor Ken Gibb, University of Glasgow
  • Chris Hancock, Crisis UK
  • Peter Cockersell, Community Housing & Therapy UK
  • Dr. Padraic Kenna, NUI Galway
  • Dr. Rory Hearne, NUI Maynooth
  • Dr. Mary Murphy, NUI Maynooth
  • Dr. Paula Mayock, Trinity College Dublin
