Children’s Rights Alliance and UNICEF Ireland: Perilous Passage Child Refugee Symposium - 5 April 2018

The Children’s Rights Alliance with the support of UNICEF Ireland is holding a symposium to examine the situation of child refugees across Europe and in Ireland.
 
In response to the European migrant situation, the Irish Government made a commitment to relocate and resettle 4,000 refugees, prioritising children and families.This symposium will hear from both national and international speakers on progress to date including:

  • David Stanton TD, Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration
  • Sarah Crowe, Spokesperson Refugee and Migrant Crisis, UNICEF Geneva
  • Catherine Cosgrave, Legal Services Manager, Immigrant Council of Ireland

The symposium will provide:

  • an overview of the experiences of child refugees travelling to Europe from Mediterranean routes
  • examine the Irish Government’s commitments to child refugees, and
  • ​explore how Ireland can prioritise and protect child refugees in the future.
