The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and the Mental Health Commission (MHC) are developing joint national adult safeguarding standards for health and social care services. As part of this work HIQA and the MHC are holding a seminar on ‘Adult Safeguarding: Promoting Rights, Health and Wellbeing’ on Wednesday 9 May 2018 in the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place.

The seminar aims to raise awareness among practitioners, policy-makers and people using and connected to health and social care services about what safeguarding is and why it is important. Delegates will hear about recent developments in adult safeguarding from leading experts from Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

The seminar also provides an opportunity for delegates to meet, engage with and learn from each other, and to contribute their views on the issues raised through a panel conversation.

Providing an overview of both national and international research in the dynamic field of adult safeguarding, a background document on adult safeguarding will be launched at the seminar and available to delegates.
