Community Law & Mediation Northside: Solicitor (Part-Time) – closing date 5 August 2019

This is a unique opportunity to practice in public interest and human rights law in one of the leading independent law centres in Ireland.

Community Law & Mediation is an independent, community-based organisation that works to make our communities more just and inclusive by facilitating access to legal services for all. It does this by providing people in its communities with expert legal, mediation and education services they would not otherwise have access to and in doing so, it addresses underlying issues of injustice and exclusion while working for real change. Its legal team has represented clients for over forty years in some of the ground-breaking human rights cases in Ireland.

CLM has specialised in social welfare law over the years and it recognises the fundamental importance of this area of law in addressing underlying issues of injustice and exclusion. It has taken some important social welfare cases and has worked in reforming law and policy in the area, including an annual roundtable on various themes within social welfare law, e.g. children and social welfare, and mental health and social welfare. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a practice in what is an expert and interesting area of law. Please note that significant time in the first two/three months of employment will be allotted to upskilling and training. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate self-motivation and transferable skills from their experience to date, along with a proven ability to adapt to new areas of practice.

This position is permanent, subject to funding, and part time, subject to a probation period, with an immediate start.  The salary offered with this position is commensurate with experience.
