NWCI and CLM launch new employment law advice clinic for women

A new employment law advice clinic for women has been set up by the National Women’s Council of Ireland(NWCI) in partnership with Community Law & Mediation (CLM).

The partnership aims to ensure that every woman has the right to economic fairness, equal treatment, equal opportunity, and dignity in the workplace. The clinic will deal with issues such as unequal pay, pregnancy and maternity discrimination, harassment and general employment law matters.

The free clinic, which is funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC), will take place once a month at the NWCI offices, North King Street, Smithfield, Dublin 7 starting on 31 October 2019. Consultations are by appointment only, and can be made by contacting Legal and Policy Officer Denise Roche at deniser@nwci.ie.

The issues raised at the clinics will also feed in to the development of a Charter for Working Women which will be used as an advocacy and lobbying tool to strengthen safeguards for working women and to challenge discrimination in the workplace.
