Mercy Law Resource Centre: Information Session on Befriender Programme – 20 November

Date: 20 November

Time: 4pm

Venue: MLRC Offices, 25 Cork Street, Dublin 8

MLRC is an independent law centre, registered charity and company limited by guarantee which provides free legal advice and representation to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in the areas of social housing and related social welfare law. Since establishment in 2009, MLRC has provided our service to over 9,300 individuals and families. In 2018 alone, MLRC assisted 452 families.

The Befriending Programme is an invaluable asset to MLRC as the legal system can be alienating, difficult and frustrating to negotiate. As part of this service, volunteers are available to befriend clients in order to accompany them and provide them with emotionaland practical support as they go through the difficult process of trying to assert their rights.

MLRC will host an information session on our Befriender Programme. The information session will provide:

  • an overview of the work of MLRC
  • an insight into the Befriender programme and perspective of the programme from a current Befriender
  • how the programme operates i.e. matching process, training provided and support to befrienders
  • the upcoming application process
