Immigrant Council of Ireland: Digital Communications and Fundraising Officer –closing date 27 January 2020

The Immigrant Council of Ireland is currently seeking applications for the following position:

Title of position:        Digital Communications and Fundraising Officer

Reporting to:             Communications and Advocacy Manager

Location:                    2 St Andrew St, Dublin 2

This is a fixed-term (12 month), full-time role, subject to funding. A 3 month probationary period applies.

Purpose of the Job:                                                                                        

The Digital Communications and Fundraising Officer will develop the organisation’s digital platforms, creating content and maximising opportunities for income generation to help maintain the sustainability of the organisation. They will have top-notch digital, organisational and communications skills. They will work closely with the Communications and Advocacy Manager as well as the Chief Executive Officer.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Coordination and content development for Immigrant Council of Ireland digital platforms, including website and social media channels;
  • Responsibility for the development of digital media materials to support fundraising and communications work, including design and production of short videos, infographics, multimedia materials, etc;
  • Implementation and further development of evolving organisational fundraising strategy with a specific focus on online and donor acquisition strategy;
  • Identification of and research into potential new funders, including grant-giving entities, corporate partners, donors and other funding streams, including via digital channels;
  • Management of the Immigrant Council of Ireland supporter engagement process;
  • Increase acquisition of email subscribers and individual donors;
  • Use Google Analytics to identify necessary improvements to the website and donation system, in order to maximise the number and value of donations made online;
  • Management of day-to-day relationship with external stakeholders relating to fundraising and digital (including corporate partners, potential funders, developers, web and donation platform providers, tech support);
  • Identify and source funding and grant opportunities for the Immigrant Council’s core work in conjunction with the staff team;
  • To work as a full member of the Immigrant Council of Ireland team, assisting with additional fundraising and communications tasks as and when required.

The Immigrant Council is a flexible organisation; the duties of this post may be subject to adjustment from time to time and the post holder will be expected to carry out any other reasonable tasks required of them in furtherance of the Immigrant Council’s wider objectives.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate is likely to have strong digital communications skills with a fundraising background, but may come from a business or digital creative background with readily transferable skills. They will be an innovative professional with exceptional digital, fundraising, communication, networking and relationship management skills. They will be comfortable creating multimedia content and coordinating its online communications platforms, including its website. They will have a keen eye to maximise existing fundraising channels and identify new opportunities, especially online. The successful candidate will work closely with its highly effective team to build on the work already done by the Immigrant Council and bring it closer to long-term sustainability.

Essential criteria:

Previous Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in digital content creation, including development of multimedia content including video, image and editing skills;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a fundraising capacity, with specific expertise in the area of online fundraising;
  • Experience of developing and implementing a digital strategy, including content development and a fundraising element;
  • Demonstrable and significant track record of achievement in terms of setting and meeting income generation targets;
  • Ability to meet and prioritise multiple deadlines and work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced, high-pressure environment;
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to carry out different tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining an overview of all activity;
  • Experience using Office and Adobe suites. Knowledge of Drupal and client relationship management systems (CRM) (e.g. Salesforce) an advantage.

 Skills

  • Demonstrable digital content creation expertise;
  • Proven ability to maximise existing income streams and identify potential new fundraising opportunities;
  • A strong understanding of digital marketing;
  • Exceptional written and presentation skills.

 Personal Qualities

  • Highly self-motivated, innovative and able to work autonomously;
  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.

Desirable criteria:

  • The ability to bring innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation;
  • The ability to effectively measure and report on the impact of funding-development activities;
  • Strong understanding of the work of the Immigrant Council and the context within which it works to achieve its goals;
  • Previous experience in the human rights or NGO sector.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Officer grade, with salary scale dependant on experience;
  • 5% employer contribution to pension after 6 months (based on employee contribution of 5%);
  • 25 days annual leave per year pro rata.
