Pavee Point: Advocacy Worker for Violence against Women Programme – closing date 1 September 2020

Pavee Point’s mission is to contribute to the improvement in the quality of life, living circumstances, status and participation of Travellers and Roman through working innovatively for social justice, greater solidarity, development, equality and human rights.

Job Overview:

The Advocacy Worker will work to implement programme aims and objectives in order to address violence against Traveller and Roma women. The worker will carry out her/his duties independently and as part of the wider VAW team. The worker will support the Coordinator and the team in developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring programme activities and strategic aims and objectives of the Organisation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Implement programme aims and objectives
  • Provide support in developing, monitoring and evaluating programme activities
  • Provide support in the implementation of Pavee Point’s strategic plan
  • Provide support for other workers/volunteers/students by using community development principles
  • Participate in team, organisational and other meetings
  • Represent the organisation and programme externally as requested by the Coordinator and/or Directors
  • Network with a range of external agencies
  • Support the programme in developing information, training and media materials
  • Support the Coordinator in reporting duties
  • Undertake other duties as deemed relevant by the Coordinator and/or Directors

Qualifications:

The Advocacy Worker will preferably have:

  • Qualification in third level education and experience in community development, human rights or related work
  • A strong analysis of VAW/GBV
  • A commitment to human rights, equality and anti-racism
  • Ability to use community development principles in practice
  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong writing and computer skills
  • Good social media skills

Terms and Conditions:

The appointment will be for a full-time fixed term contract of 12 months. Salary will be negotiable in line with experience (Scale is €32k-€44k). Annual leave is 25 days. The post is funded by the HSE.
