‘Environmental Justice, Democracy And Human Rights’ Conference 2021

The 2021 Annual Human Rights and Equality Conference organised in partnership with Law Society Professional Training will take place on Friday 19 November from 9.30am – 1.00pm via Zoom and offers 3 CPD points. The complimentary event aims to critically highlight both Irish and international developments related to environmental democracy, justice, and human rights. The first session will demonstrate the broader global context of the intersection between environmental democracy, justice and human rights, highlighting relevant international developments in this area. This will be followed by an interactive panel discussion moderated by the Hon. Mr. Justice Frank Clarke, which will focus on Irish developments in the area of environmental democracy, justice, and human rights law including relevant litigation cases and validity references under the Aarhus Regulation.

Speakers will include Dr. Kumi Naidoo, former secretary-general of Amnesty International; Anaïs Berthier, Head of EU Affairs at ClientEarth; Dr. Andrew Jackson, UCD Sutherland School of Law; Professor Áine Ryall, The Centre for Law and the Environment, UCC; Fred Logue, Solicitor and Law Society Human Rights and Equality Committee member and Clodagh Daly, Centre for Environmental Justice, Community Law and Meditation.
