VOICE of Irish Concern for the Environment are recruiting a full-time Chief Executive

Start Date:           April/May 2023

Position:              Full time

Location:             Dublin, but some remote working is allowed

Salary:                  €50-55,000/year

CEO duties and responsibilities 

  • Act as the face of the organisation when communicating with stakeholders, government entities and the general public.
  • Develop and build essential connections and relationships with government ministers, politicians, civil servants, community groups and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of the organisation’s long- and short-term strategies.
  • Manage overall operations and staff and make major decisions affecting the organisation.
  • Manage and oversee all HR issues and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Manage the organisation’s resources and finances.
  • Develop and implement fundraising plans and successfully raise funds for the organisation.
  • Negotiate or approve agreements and contracts for the organisation.
  • Manage company organisational structure.
  • Communicate and work closely with the board of directors.
  • Assess and minimise risks to the company.
  • Set strategic goals.
  • Have overall responsibility for VOICE management and administration within governance accountability frameworks as established by the Board of directors. 
  • Provide company-wide leadership.
  • Serve as the company’s primary spokesperson.
  • Identify and address companywide problems.
  • Develop and uphold the company’s culture and mission/vision.
  • Implement strategic plans by working with team, board and senior stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and track the success of the company in reaching its goals.
  • Ensure that all financial and progress reporting is completed and submitted to funding organisations/government departments/sponsors.

Skills and Experience

  • 2-4 years prior senior management experience, dealing with day to day oversight over staff.
  • Successful fundraising experience is essential, raising funds in the private, public and philanthropic sector, illustrating a proven track record of securing funding in a tough financial climate. 
  • Experience in the NGO sector is critical, either in a professional or voluntary capacity.
  • Experience in advocating and promoting the circular economy.
  • Knowledge of the environmental field and relevant policy is a plus, as well as a passion for environmental protection.
  • Experience in working with civil servants and public officials to build positive relationships and secure essential funding and policy successes.
