The Law Reform Commission has published a revised/consolidated version of the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 which brings together all amendments and changes to that legislation in a single text. The 2005 Act is Ireland’s main piece of social welfare legislation; it has been heavily and frequently amended since its enactment.
FLAC welcomed the publication of the revised version of the 2005 Act and stated:
“Access to legal information is a requirement of the right of access to justice.
The Social Welfare Acts impact the lives and rights of hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland. Access to up-to-date legislation is vitally important to ensure people are aware of their rights and entitlements.
The consolidated legislation will also be of significant benefit to lawyers and advocates working in the area of social welfare.”
