FLAC is looking for solicitors and barristers who are qualified to practise law in Ireland to volunteer in its free legal advice phone clinics.
Time commitment
Two hours once a month on a day of your choice.
How to apply
Complete an Expression of Interest form by Tuesday 15th September and the FLAC team will be in touch. Once you have completed an application form and this has been screened, you will be sent a link to register for one of the online volunteer induction sessions on Tuesday 15th September at 6pm or Thursday 17th September at 6pm.
About FLAC phone clinics
FLAC operates General Law, Employment Law, Family Law and Immigration Law phone clinics and a General Law clinic through Irish Sign Language Interpretation. Some of these clinics are operated in conjunction with Citizens Information Services and the ISL clinic is operated alongside Citizens Information and the Sign Language Interpreting Service.
FLAC Clinics are predominantly for those who are unable to afford advice from a lawyer in private practice and cannot legal advice through organisations such as the Legal Aid Board or trade unions. The service provided is once-off, early and basic legal advice and a clinic is only provided after a service user has spoken with a Citizens Information Service Information Officer or a member of the FLAC Telephone Information and Referral Line.
How does FLAC phone clinic volunteering work?
You will receive the name, telephone number and a synopsis of the legal query for four service users.
In a private room that is free from disruption for the two-hour period of the clinic, you will call the service users using our Phone App. You will:
