Child Conference: Challenges and Issues in Child Law Scholarship - 9 March

An international conference organised by the Child Law Clinic at University College Cork, with the support of the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

It will be held at Brookfield Health Sciences Complex Room G04 on Friday 9 March 2012.

Child Law is a new and exciting area of legal scholarship and practice. The aim of this conference is to examine the law in this area and to share experiences of litigating, legislating and researching child law nationally and internationally.

These issues will be addressed by eminent legal scholars including:

Professor Laura Lundy, Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland; Dr Helen Stalford, Reader, University of Liverpool, England; Professor Elaine Sutherland, University of Stirling, Scotland; Professor Ton Liefaard, University of Utrecht, Netherlands; Jane Williams, Senior Lecturer, University of Wales, Swansea; Professor Eva Brems, University of Gent, Belgium; Professor Marielle Bruning, Leiden University, Netherlands; Dr Karl Hanson, Associate Professor, University Institute Kurt Bosch, Switzerland.

The Conference Convenor is Professor Ursula Kilkelly, Director of The Child Law Clinic, Faculty of Law, University College Cork.

The event will be preceded on Thursday 8th March with an evening focusing on Irish child law reform, addressed by a number of academic and practitioner child law experts.
