This Masterclass will focus on the child care law aspects of protecting asylum seeking children in care:

  • Using the Child Care Act 1991 and Child Care Regulations to Protect Asylum Seeking Children in Care
  • Invoking the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Case Law of the ECHR in Representing Asylum Seeking Children in Care
  • Issues will include: The Best Interests of the Child, Accomodation & Placements, Voluntary Care, Care Planning & Reviews, Aftercare, Guardianship, the Voice of the Child, Section 47 of the Child Care Act and Legal Representation for the Child.
