The Legal Section of the CICC closely monitors the first steps of the International Criminal Court in building a credible functioning justice system and deliver on the promise of a fair, effective and independent Court.
The CICC Hague Secretariat has been training legal interns in its monitoring work, by attending and reporting on all ICC hearings. After review by a legal adviser, the reports are then sent out as informal notes to more than 200 organizations and interested individuals.
Next to that, each intern works closely with a legal adviser on several varied legal research projects in the context of a fair, effective and independent Court (the projects are listed here).
QUALIFICATIONS
• University level education in international public law;
• Perfect knowledge of the English language;
• Excellent research and writing skills;
• Availability on a full-time basis for a minimum of three months, preferably longer;
• Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines;
Strong motivation and interest to work with an NGO on issues pertaining to the ICC.
REMUNERATION
Unfortunately, internships at the CICC are unpaid. We recommend all prospective candidates to
seek financial assistance from their academic institutions or seek outside fellowships, grants and
personal resources. The CICC cannot sponsor individuals applying for internships to help them
obtain visas.
