Save the Children International: Legal Counsel – deadline 2 March 2018

Save the Children International is looking to appoint a Legal and Compliance Counsel to join its London-based team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to work in this dynamic organisation which is at the start of its new 15-year global strategy, focusing on reaching the most deprived children globally and has recently launched its global campaign ‘Every Last Child’.

For this legal compliance focused opportunity you, together with two other lawyers, will be responsible for leading on the development and management of legal, regulatory and compliance processes in relation to Save the Children International’s international program operations.  This will include issues arising under both UK law and internationally, in relation to global program operations, for example, advising on the organisation’s obligations in relation to legal and regulatory compliance, including on fraud, terrorism financing, bribery and corruption, money laundering, sanctions, data protection, whistleblowing and other applicable regulatory regimes.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is already in the sector or is looking to transfer from either in-house or private practice roles.

The Person

For this role you will need to be a lawyer or barrister qualified in England and Wales or a common law jurisdiction with at least four years+ PQE experience.  On a personal level you will be culturally aware, a strong team player and have a demonstrable interest in the sector.

The salary offered is in line with the sector benchmark [in the range of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum], and includes a company pension scheme and 30 days’ annual leave.

This role will be based in Central London and is available on a full-time or part-time basis.

The organisation

It employs approximately 17,000 people across the globe and works on the ground in over 120 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. It also campaigns and advocates at the highest levels to realise children’s rights and ensure their voices are heard.

It is working towards three breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:

• No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday
• All children learn from a quality basic education and that
• Violence against children is no longer tolerated
