Scholars At Risk Europe: Advocacy Manager – closing date 10 May 2020

Scholars at Risk Europe (SAR Europe), hosted by the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute (MUSSI), Maynooth University, Ireland, is the European office of the global Scholars at Risk network (SAR). SAR is an international network of over 500 higher education institutions in 40 countries, whose mission is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom. SAR meets its mission through three core activity areas: protection (casework or direct assistance to at-risk scholars); advocacy (campaigns for individuals and to promote academic freedom); and research and learning (publications, conferences, workshops and training).

SAR Europe seeks an experienced advocacy manager to lead activities to expand, coordinate and support advocacy in Europe to promote academic freedom in Europe and beyond. This is a new position, supported by external grant funds. It is SAR Europe's intention to seek further funding to increase our advocacy activities in Europe beyond the initial 12-month project. The role will be based at Maynooth University, Ireland. The advocacy manager will play an integral role as part of a small team of SAR Europe staff hosted at Maynooth University and will liaise closely with the global offices of the SAR network, based in the United States.

Senior Administrative Officer IV Salary Scale: €58,161 - €60,155 per annum (2 points)
