Assistant Co-ordinator, FLAC - Deadline 21 August

Accountable to:  LTI Co-ordinator

Assist with the co-ordination and implementation of the FAS Local Training Initiative (LTI) funded programme to meet the needs of learners who participate on the Legal Office Skills Course.

The aim of the programme is to provide learners with the opportunity to gain a combination of work experience and classroom based training so that on leaving the programme they can take advantage of further training, education or employment options available to them.

Learners are provided with the opportunity to develop communications and employability skills in a legal/social justice environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To develop a work plan in consultation with the Sponsor, FAS, the Co-ordinator and Learners in order to implement a training programme which meets the needs of the learners.

• To design and plan the Participants ILP’s (Individual Learning Plans) in consultation with the learners and relevant staff.

• Preparation and delivery of modules from the FETAC Level 4 Office Skills Course to all learners on the programme including Communications, General Office Skills, Business English, Business Calculations, Information Technology Skills, Reception Skills, Workplace Safety, Work Experience and Legal Practice and Procedures.

• Prepare learners portfolios for FETAC accreditation.

• Recruitment of learners to programme in conjunction with the Co-ordinator.

• In conjunction with the Co-ordinator, to arrange the activities and modules related to the Level 4 Office Skills FETAC Major Award.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provision of ongoing individual support to learners in the form of regular one-to-one supervision to ensure they benefit from and successfully complete the programme

• Evaluate learners progress with regular group and individual evaluations

• Hold regular meetings with the LTI Co-ordinator to develop ongoing work plans

• Monitor and evaluate overall programme in accordance with FAS procedures

• Keep project records in accordance with FAS requirements

• To attend relevant external training

• To manage and implement FLAC’s Office and Health and Safety procedures

• To take on other tasks and duties that will further develop the aims and objectives of FLAC

FAS duties:

• Co-ordinate the learners’ registration with FAS when joining the LTI Programme in conjunction with the co-ordinator

• Record and report learners’ attendance to FAS on a weekly basis and maintain attendance sheets, ensuring that they are signed by learners and forwarded to FAS.

• Under supervision of Sponsor, liaison with FAS on all matter relating to the Training

Programme in the absence of the Co-ordinator

• Submission of termination forms to FAS when learners finish on Programme

Essential Skills/Experience required:

Educated to degree level

• A recognised pedagogical qualification

• Educated to degree level

• At least two years’ experience in delivering training programmes/modules to learners

• Experience in programme co-ordination

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Excellent IT skills

• Commitment to human right and social justice issues

Hours of work are 35 per week normally 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Salary: FAS/LTI rates – c. €29,800 per annum

This position is offered on a temporary contract for 4 months from 1 September to 31 December 2013 and in any event is subject to funding being available from FAS for the position. Renewal for a further year depends on FAS funding.
