Age Action: Head of Advocacy and Communications – deadline 18 May

Age Action, the national charity for older people and ageing issues, is seeking an outstanding communicator and influencer to appoint as Head of Advocacy and Communications.

The role will report directly to the Chief Executive and be a member of the senior management team. The person will lead the team in all aspects of our Advocacy and Communications policies. The Head of Advocacy and Communications is responsible for planning and coordinating the range of activities that the organisation undertakes to improve the lives of older people, especially those who are most vulnerable, and to raise awareness of the diverse needs and wishes of older people to Government, other policy makers, services providers, the general public and the media. Advocacy includes undertaking research and making submissions, including an annual pre-budget submission on the wide range of issues relevant to older people and promoting greater collaboration with other organisations in the ageing sector. Communications involves working with the media, social media, the website and publications. The role plays a significant part in developing/reviewing the organisation’s Strategic Plan and advising and supporting other work teams on issues related to policy, research and evaluation in their own work.

This is a full-time post based in Dublin. The role will require work outside normal office hours in the evenings and at weekends and travel throughout Ireland.
