Nasc (the Irish word for ‘link’) is an NGO and registered charity based in Cork City. Nasc works with migrants and refugees to advocate and lead for change within Ireland’s immigration and protection systems. We are currently looking for a volunteer for our busy Advocacy & Information Service.

The volunteer will in particular assist the team in preparing applications for the expected upcoming regularisation scheme for undocumented migrants & for the recently announced Afghan Admission Programme for family members of Afghan nationals living in Ireland.

Volunteer Duties:

  • Supporting our advocacy team.
  • Assisting with client queries.
  • Conducting research relevant to clients’ cases.

Essential Volunteer Criteria:

  • Law Degree, or another degree with modules relating to law, human rights etc.
  • A demonstrated interest in migrant & refugee rights.
  • Basic office IT skills.

The volunteer will gain valuable insight into the immigration and international protection systems in Ireland and will gain experience in dealing directly with clients, drafting letters, and using a case management system.

The volunteer should be available for 3-4 days a week for between 4 and 6 months. Suitable applicants who are available for the full 6-month period would be preferred. We will endeavor to be flexible to accommodate other part-time work commitments. Applicants with a second language or from a migrant background are particularly encouraged to apply.

The volunteer will be required to attend at our office at 34 Paul Street, Cork City where we have Covid-19 safety protocols in place.

To apply, please email julie@nascireland.org with your CV and a short cover letter setting out your interest in volunteering with Nasc.
